Royal Icing

I love this Royal Icing! I love the taste and it is easy to make. I am not a great decorator so I dip the cookies in the royal icing. I hold each cookie upside down and dip it in the royal icing and let the excess drip off. Then I flip them and place them on a baking rack. When they are dry I will pipe on some easy decorations. This icing will last for a few weeks in the refrigerator.

Recipe Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup of water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons clear corn syrup
  • 5 tablespoons meringue powder
  • 2 pounds powdered sugar

Recipe Instructions

  1. Mix water, vanilla, corn syrup, and meringue powder in a mixing bowl and whisk for about 30 seconds, with a hand whisk, until puffy.
  2. Pour all the powdered sugar into the mixing bowl.
  3. Beat on lowest speed for 2 minutes. Do not over mix. Overmixing will cause air bubbles.

Recipe Notes

  1. Separate icing into smaller containers before adding food coloring.
