Sydney, New South Wales, Austrailia

Sydney is a beautiful city and sits on one of the world’s most beautiful natural harbors, Sydney Harbor, with amazing views of harbor icons the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. A great way to experience the beauty of the harbor is to catch the Sydney Ferry to Taronga Zoo. Our last day back in Sydney after Uluru and Melbourne, Clifton and I took the ferry to the zoo. Taronga Zoo is located on elevated land beside the waterfront, allowing one of the best vantage points for viewing the entirety of the harbour and its icons.

We stayed at the Westin Sydney in Martin Place, which is housed in the historic General Post Office building. Great location. We had a view of the old GPO building clocktower. A red heritage post box stands in the lobby and reminds you of the hotel’s history.

We spent 4 nights and 5 days in Sydney after the Hamilton Island. And then one day after we returned from Melbourne and Uluru. We visited Clifton’s stomping grounds. Coogee Beach where he lived during his semester abroad. It’s a great beach town. We ate at some of Clifton’s “go to” places, visited UNSW, did the walk from Coogee to Bondi, climbed the Harbor Bridge, and had some great meals.  Best sushi ever. And managed to get in some shopping at The Strand Arcade, established in 1892, which is only a block from the hotel.
